Nalda.ch is a Swiss education marketplace and online shop for books, e-books and audio learning material, run by the Nalda Books business unit, formerly known as Studenttrade. Students, educators and schools use it to buy and sell learning material, find what their institution or exam requires, and order equipment, all from one trusted place.

Challenge

Students and educators had no single trusted marketplace for buying and selling books, e-books and audio learning material. Buyers searched several shops to find what their school or exam required, and sellers had no easy way to pass used material on. For Nalda, every slow page or hard-to-find title meant lost sales, and the first version needed to load faster to compete in search results.

Solution

We built Nalda’s marketplace, then rebuilt it as version 2 with a focus on speed, search visibility and a broader catalog.

Discovery & Strategy

Defined buy and sell flows for students, educators and institutions
Organized the catalog around schools, exams, books and equipment
Planned version 2 around server-side rendering and caching

Built the marketplace in Angular on Firebase and Cloud Functions
